President Barack Obama was the first candidate of a major party to decline public financing. He announced his decision in a video message on the Internet.
As was widely reported:
Approximately half of the $639 million President Barack Obama's political campaign raised for the 2008 presedential election came from donors online giving less than $300 each.
If you were one of the more than 1 million people who visited President Barack Obama's political campaign website, you are most likely aware that he has your e-mail address. Due to the effective use of technology during his election campaign you may not realize that he also may have your phone number and know where you're registered to vote... not to mention where you like to shop and what foods you enjoy. He has an estimate of your household income, if you are a home owner or renter, and what types of beer if any you prefer, he may even know if you forgot to send a birthday card to one of your friends this year...
How well do you know your consumers?
